PUPILS at a Romsey school gathered their shields and helmets to re-enact a famous battle.
To commemorate the anniversary of the Battle of Hastings, Year 7 pupils from Stroud School, Highwood Lane, re-enacted the battle between William, the Duke of Normandy, and the Anglo-Saxon King, Harold Godwinson.
The battle was fought on October 14 1066 and kickstarted the Norman conquest of England after William emerged as the victor.
Deputy head, Mr Stewart, said: "It was fantastic that the children could experience, discuss and debate the key moments of the battlefield. "This active learning gave us a great foundation upon which to build subject skills and develop our understanding and analysis of this event."
The event was organised by Mr Stewart and involved the Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) and History departments.
The children re-enacted the battle on October 16.
