THREE teenagers have been arrested after reports of shoplifting and violence.

Police say they have been responding to reports of anti-social behaviour and violence in Whiteley.

At around 5.20pm on November 17, it was reported that a group of teenagers were acting 'anti-socially' outside Co-op on Yew Tree Drive.

During this incident, a 17-year-old boy was allegedly assaulted.

On November 19, police received a report of shoplifting at the same shop.

Three people were arrested in connection with the two incidents.

• A 16-year-old boy from Bursledon, arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, theft from a shop, and possession of a class B drug. He has been bailed until December 16.

• An 18-year-old man from Hythe, arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and theft from a shop. He has been bailed until December 18.

• A 17-year-old boy from Southampton arrested on suspicion of common assault and theft from a shop. He remains in custody at this time.

A police spokesperson said: "Neighbourhood officers have been conducting patrols in the Whiteley area, and we continue to encourage anyone who has experienced issues with anti-social behaviour or associated crime to report these to us."
