POLICE were called to the Itchen Bridge following concern for a man's welfare.
Officers say they were called to the scene at 3.22am this morning following the incident.
The road was shut for nearly two hours.
A Hampshire Police statement says: "Officers attended and the man was located.
"While officers dealt with this, traffic was stopped in both directions.
"The closure was lifted shortly after 5am."
