POLICE officers were seen carrying out searches by railway tracks in Southampton as part of an ongoing murder investigation into a missing woman.

Joanne Sheen, 44, was last seen travelling from Fareham, back to Southampton, with a friend on Thursday, December 5 last year.

In November, a 53-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder in connection with the case and was released under investigation.

Four other people were previously arrested and released under investigation. 

Officers were yesterday seen combing the area next to tracks at the level crossing on Mount Pleasant Road near to Mount Pleasant Industrial Estate in relation to the case.

A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary said: "I can confirm officers are searching this area as part of our ongoing enquiries into the murder of Joanne Sheen."
