A POLICE incident was blocking traffic on the M271 in Southampton.
Officers blocked a part of the motorway following calls of concerns for the welfare of a woman in the area.
The road has now reopened.
A spokesperson from Hampshire Police said: "We are currently responding to a call relating to the concern for the welfare of a woman there and traffic has been held while officers attend."
All northbound traffic has been halted on the northbound carriageway at junction 1 following the incident, which happened at about 3.45pm.
A traffic map by travel information service Romanse shows tailbacks in both directions on the road, with traffic buidling back onto Redbridge Causeway heading east and on the M27 westbound.
