A ROMSEY GP surgery has revealed they are expecting a Covid-19 vaccine delivery this week as the nation is plunged into a third lockdown.

In a Facebook post, Abbeywell Surgery said they are currently receiving "very little notice" of jab deliveries and have to book patients in at short notice.

They believe this is due to the new supply chain for the vaccine, but stressed they have started contacting patients over 80-years-old, including care home staff, to book their first doses of the vaccine.

The post reads: "In line with the new guidance, these people will be offered an appointment for their second dose within the next 12 weeks.

"For those who were vaccinated on December 22 and 23, and have their second doses booked for next week, we ask for your patience as we seek clarity on whether we can continue to offer your second vaccination, or if we need to cancel and rebook your appointment for a later date.

"We will let you know as soon as possible."

However, they said the public should not contact the surgery for more information about the vaccine, as they need to keep their phone lines free for medical queries.

The post added Abbeywell Surgery will issue updates when they know more.

The service is still open amid lockdown and patients should attend any appointments they have booked.
