Around 1,250 patients have been vaccinated by a GP practice in Romsey at the end of a "successful" week, but second dose appointments for those who received the first injection will have to be cancelled.

Abbeywell Surgery has begun vaccinating patients in the community and thanks to the hard work of staff and volunteers, all its vaccine supply has been used up.

But there is bad new for patients waiting for their second dose, which the practice now confirmed won't be coming until another batch is delivered.

In a Facebook post, the practice said: "Unfortunately we do have to confirm that we are in the process of contacting those patients who were booked in for the second dose next week in order to cancel their appointments.

"We were very much hoping we could find a way to go ahead, but we will not be receiving a delivery so this is not possible.

"All patients will be phoned (including over the weekend) to confirm their appointment has been cancelled. We will contact these patients again once we have a confirmed date for the delivery of their second dose."

Patients aged 80 or above yet to receive the jab will be contacted as soon as the next batch of vaccines is delivered, the practice said.

In the meantime, residents are urged to stay safe and stick to the lockdown rules.
