IT DOES not take a genius to know that there has been far less movement across the district throughout the pandemic.

But Google has studied just how restricted people have been due to coronavirus.

The following stats have been recorded between November 29 2020 and December 10 2021.

All percentages show the difference from a 'baseline', which is the average movement calculated from previous years.

On average, there has been 78 per cent less travelling for retail and recreation; 29 per cent less movement for supermarket and pharmacy trips; 23 per cent less use of parks; 67 per cent less use of public transport; 27 per cent less commuting to workplaces; and 13 per cent more travelling to residential areas.

Winchester's statistics mostly fit in with the county-wide picture.

For the whole of Hampshire, there has been 29 per cent less movement for supermarket and pharmacy trips; 63 per cent less use of public transport; 32 per cent less commuting to workplaces; and 12 per cent more travelling to residential areas.

The district's stats vary in two categories, with Hampshire seeing no change in the use of parks and 68 per cent less travelling for retail and recreation.
