A FAMILY of five and two other people were injured after a head-on crash on a busy road near Romsey this week.

Two adults and three children in a car, and a man travelling with a woman in a van, collided on the A3090 at East Wellow, South Central Ambulance Service (SCAS) confirmed.

Five ambulances, the Hazardous Areas Response Team and a rapid response vehicle were alerted to the crash at 7.15pm on Tuesday.

The two adults in the car had more serious injuries and were freed by firefighters from Romsey and Redbridge.

The children, and the man and the woman in the van, had minor injuries.

A spokesperson from SCAS added after the casualties were treated at the scene they were taken to University Hospital Southampton for further treatment and assessment.

As reported, crews from Romsey and Redbridge were alerted to the crash at 7.20pm, a spokesperson from Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service said.

Firefighters made the scene safe and the stop message came in at 8.13pm.

Hampshire police told the Advertiser the road was closed while the two vehicles were cleared, adding enquiries into the exact circumstances of the collision are ongoing.
