EIGHT crews tackled a fire which is said to have spread from a shed to four houses in Winchester last night (Friday).
Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service responded after receiving reports of the blaze in Stuart Crescent at 10.50pm.
On Twitter, Basingstoke RDS wrote: "*23:40* H01C3 mobilised alongside various other @Hants_fire resources to a significant ‘Make Pumps 8’ domestic fire in #Winchester. Good stop from initial crews prevented a much more serious fire from occurring."
Temporary group manager with the fire service Andy Weeks added: "My thanks for the hard work by all of the crews involved in preventing fire spread and damage to more properties on a very cold night. Thanks to @WinchesterCops and @SCAS_HART for their assistance throughout #teamwork #OneTeam @Hants_fire."

Firefighters were expected to revisit the area today to reinspect the homes and check for any hot spots that may need damping down.
The fire service has been contacted for a comment.
