ROMSEY will be as hot as Ibiza this week as temperatures are expected to soar ahead of the Easter weekend.

A mini-heatwave is predicted to sweep across the country bringing highs of 24 degrees in the South East of England.

In Romsey, temperatures will be slightly cooler, but still as warm as Ibiza, according to the Met Office.

Tomorrow (March 30), residents can bask in the sunshine as the needle is predicted to rise to 18C in the market town.

The warm weather should stick around on Wednesday and Thursday, with highs of 17C on the cards.

This comes as the Government's 'stay at home' message has been replaced with 'stay local' from today (March 29) as coronavirus restrictions are eased.

This means people can reunite outdoors in groups of six - or as two households if that number exceeds six.

However, the hot weather won't carry on into the Bank Holiday weekend, because the Met Office predicts temperatures will drop to 13C on Friday.

Romsey will feel cooler on Saturday, with the needle only expected to reach 12C on Saturday, while Sunday should see a slight increase to 13C.

Sleet and ice are also predicted in some parts of the UK.
