POLICE have confirmed "no offences" have been uncovered following reports of an 11-year-old girl who was allegedly sexually assaulted in Chandler's Ford.

The incident was believed to have taken place in Fryern Recreation Ground, close to the play area, sometime between 8.10am and 8.30am on Monday (March 22).

The girl was walking to school, through the recreation ground, when she spotted a man sat on a bench between the basketball court and play area.

It is believed after the girl walked past, the man approached her from behind and grabbed her upper thigh, over her clothing.

However, the force confirmed after a "thorough investigation" it concluded "no offences have been detected".

A Hampshire police spokesperson stressed officers take "every report of sexual assault seriously" and has "specialist officers who can support anyone who has been a victim of sexual assault".

They added: "If you see anything suspicious please call 101, or report it via our online reporting portal on the Hampshire Constabulary website. If a crime is in progress, please dial 999."
