THE number of coronavirus-related deaths in every postcode area in Romsey and the surrounding towns and villages has been revealed.

A map created by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) shows the number of deaths between March 2020 and March 2021 where Covid-19 was mentioned as a cause on the death certificate.

It takes into account deaths that happened in hospitals, care homes, at home, communal settings and "elsewhere".

Although Romsey has had fewer cases and deaths than some areas of the UK during the pandemic, the heartbreaking data from the ONS makes it clear scores of people have died locally - each one of them a family tragedy, not just a statistic.
