WITH just six weeks until the Mountbatten Sunflower Walk 2021 in Romsey, now is the time to book your place.

The Mountbatten Sunflower Walk 2021 is a flagship event for Mountbatten Hampshire, a local hospice and end of life care service for Southampton and west Hampshire.

The event will happen at the Broadlands Estate, Romsey, on Sunday July 4 between 10am and 2pm, with registration opening at 9am.

There is a five-mile walk and the option, if you cannot make it on the day, to ‘Walk the Sunflower Walk Your Way’. This will see people walk the five miles over a longer period.

Nigel Hartley, CEO of Mountbatten, said: “The easing of COVID restrictions, and the fact that our Sunflower Walk is held in the open air and beautiful grounds of the Broadlands Estate, gives use cause to be optimistic that the Sunflower Walk will be able to go ahead this year.

"This last year has been challenging for us all. At Mountbatten, our vital work caring for those living with death, dying and bereavement has continued.

"However, our usual fundraising efforts, which support our essential and growing work, have been curtailed.

"Now you can help us, with your family and friends, by joining our Mountbatten Sunflower Walk on Sunday, 4 July.”

He added: “We’re very grateful to the Countess Mountbatten of Burma for agreeing to a special opening of the Broadlands Estate at Romsey.

"Taking part in the Sunflower Walk within the beautiful surroundings of Broadlands is a really special occasion, and we are very grateful to everyone who participates to raise funds for Mountbatten Hampshire, your local hospice and end of life care service.

"Please do everything you can to join us on what will undoubtedly be a very special day."

Rebecca Billington, Staff Nurse at Mountbatten Hampshire said: “If you live in Southampton and west Hampshire, Mountbatten Hampshire is your local Hospice.

"Every penny helps, and everyone’s support can help ensure that our services continue for those living with death, dying and bereavement. By joining in, participants can remember their loved ones.”

Mountbatten Sunflower Walk participants are encouraged to sign up now via the Mountbatten Hampshire website at https://www.mountbatten-hampshire.org.uk/Event/sunflowerwalk2021.

The entry fee is £23.50 for adults (18+) and £13.50 for children (5-17 years) which includes a T-shirt but it is participants sponsorship, fundraising and donations that help the hospice to raise funds for the growing number of people and families who need them.
