A THIRD man who is alleged to have been an accomplice in the robbery at a home near Stockbridge says he intends to plead not guilty.

Christopher Doughty appeared at Winchester Crown Court on Friday alleged to have conspired with Eriks Valants and Jed Martin to rob the home of Susan Hunt in Leckford on March 23, last year.

The 60-year-old, who is currently remanded at HMP Erlestoke, in Wiltshire, was not arraigned as his barrister was not present, but Doughty said: “I will be pleading not guilty, sir.”

His plea was not formally accepted as he had not been given advice from his barrister.

Doughty also faces a charge of having a mobile phone inside prison between March 1 and 30, last year, without authority.

Valants, 22, and Martin, 27, have previously been jailed for 10 years each for robbery. Their sentences are currently be reviewed by the Court of Appeal to determine whether they were ‘unduly lenient’.
