A MOTORCYCLIST lost control after overtaking on a main road, an inquest opening heard.
Patrick Keohane, 71, was riding a Suzuki motorbike before it was in a collision at around 11.30am on Wednesday June 9.
Despite best efforts of the emergency services he was pronounced dead at the scene – the B3035 near Corhampton.
Winchester Coroner's Court heard that Mr Keohane, of Lucerne Gardens in Hedge End, had overtaken a Transit van but lost control when pulling back into the lane.
His motorcycle collided with an oncoming vehicle.
Dr Bonita Foria has conducted a post mortem but will not state a cause of death until a toxicology report is submitted.
This will show any legal or illegal substances in Mr Keohane's blood at the time of death.
The full inquest will be held in Winchester on February 10.
