The event takes place between 24 July and 5 September and will host various indoor and outdoor exhibitions.

`A British Summerscape` exhibition will showcase illustrations from `What To Look For In Summer` by well-known wildlife artist and author Charles Tunnicliffe who originally published the illustrated, non-fiction book in 1960 about all things summer

In the gallery space, the illustrations will be blown up to cover the walls and allow visitors to immerse in the details of the landscapes.

Outside in the gardens, the `Sights and Sounds of Summer` exhibition will host artist Natasha Durley who has created a contemporary, digital version of the 1960s illustrations to bring a vibrant, new life to the original works of Tunnicliffe.

This will be the first time that both vintage and modern versions of the `Ladybird Book` illustrations have been displayed together and there is a new addition for 2021, the `Sights and Sounds of Summer family trail` with a Roe Deer race, an Osprey obstacle course and challenges to complete along the way.

Artist Natasha Durley said: “I’m absolutely delighted that the first-ever public display of my illustrations is at Mottisfont, with its wildflower displays, stunning river, and ancient woodland.

“The property could be a scene from one of the books themselves!

“In these current times, it feels more important than ever for everyone to explore the countryside and discover the natural world around us.”

Senior Programming and Partnerships Officer at Mottisfont said: “We’re thrilled to have been chosen to showcase Charles Tunnicliffe’s exquisite watercolours alongside Natasha Durley’s vibrant modern illustrations. It feels very appropriate too; so much of what you can explore at Mottisfont is reflected in the book.”
