Baby Necessities, baby bank hosted their open day and bake sale after receiving much needed funding from the National Lottery Community Fund.

The founders of the local baby bank Lauren Denham and Hayleigh Jarvis received £34,911 to help secure new premises at the BasePoint, Romsey after the need for the bank boomed during lockdown.

Since starting the charity in December 2020, the charity has grown beyond their expectation.

Lauren Said: “It is a sorry reality of how many local families live below the breadline and need places like Baby Necessities for extra support.”

As well as the baby bank they have now also launched their “Give a Gift” project which will used for birthday presents for children aged 1-11 who might not receive anything on their special day.

The Mayor of Romsey Town, Cllr Karen Dunleavey and local MP, Caroline Nokes attended the open day to show their support as well as purchasing some of the cakes on offer.

All the cakes were provided by local businesses, Oodles of Cake, Treat Me Sweet, The Viking Bakehouse, Hollies Cake Kitchen and Missy Cupcake.

Lauren continued, “Thanks to their generosity, nearly £200 has been raised. This will be used to purchases mattresses to go with donated cots.”
