PLANS to move a static caravan was given approval, despite objections.

Mr Webb applied to change the use of part of the land at Sandhill Farm, Newtown Road, Sherfield English so that he may relocate the existing home which stands at 3.5m high, 6.8m wide and 20m in length.

Test Valley Borough Council's planning committee gave the application the go-ahead during a meeting last week.

The council had received objections from the Sherfield English Parish Council as well as a further eight letters of objection during the neighbourhood consultation period which led to the application needing consideration.

The parish council’s concerns were that the relocation of the home would mean the caravan would be placed roadside as opposed to the current position which is set back and hidden on the land which is largely used for agricultural and commercial purposes.

Other letters raised concerns about the size of the caravan and that it would be `out of character` in the surroundings. Another said Mr Webb had breached the planning application with noise and machinery working outside of restricted hours.

The borough council was also told that there should be an ecological impact assessment carried out in case of bats and other wildlife however, the ecology officer raised no objections to the application.

The plan was approved with recommendations that the head of planning and building draw up legal documents to ensure no further dwellings are built on the site, restricting the site to just one residential caravan.

Sherfield Parish Council have not made comment at this time.
