The Test Valley Business Awards are underway with many entrants coming forward with why they feel they should be considered.

Here is Leslie Barry of Enham Village Shop and Post Office.

“When I applied for the TVBA it was to acknowledge the outstanding effort made by the staff at Enham Shop & Post Office during 2020 and to date.

“Totally committed to supporting our customers they have emulated our care for the community approach that has won a lot of recognition and awards during our 16 years here. But the last 18 months of unknown and unprecedented challenges has been met with a can do and cheery attitude that has made me very proud.

“I would like this award to acknowledge that kind and caring spirit that everyone has been received during every visit.

Staff carried on fundraising for charities despite the difficulties and pressures of Covid-19.

Leslie continued: “Even though we were under immense pressure from supply issues to safety practices and more, it brought a sense of normality and was something different for people to think about. Our Christmas video was a fun message designed to raise a laugh.

“I am sure we are one of many community minded businesses that have taken exceptional steps during the pandemic but with heartfelt pride I know we worked every day to keep people safe and supplied as well as cared for.

“for Sue Hopkins who inspired me to apply. I should also add it would be an honour to receive this award on behalf of all the community shops and post offices that have given their all during these difficult times.”

Parker Bullen Solicitors, sponsors of the TVBA category for small businesses previously said: “Celebrating business successes has never been so important as now.
