LOCAL hair loss specialist has branched out on her own in a bid to support more people.

Rachel Cardy is a qualified hairdresser who has specialised in hair loss treatments for more than 30 years.

She has now left the salon life and hopes to be able to help more people in need with her added flexibility.

Ahead of Breast Cancer Awareness month in October, Rachel would like to let people know what physical support is available in Romsey.

Some of the treatments available from Rachel are scalp massage and exfoliation, Reiki, scalp tattooing and the all-important, consultation for wig fittings to name a few.

These treatments are available for an array of conditions from alopecia to those losing hair as a result of cancer treatments and referrals can be made to Rachel through either a medical professional or people can refer themselves.

Rachel will also be hosting her 'Staying Strong' support group in November with the date to be confirmed due to Covid-19. Proceeds from tickets will go towards the Jane Scarth House cancer support services.

Rachel has so far raised over £2000 for the cause.

Rachel said: “People say, why do you do this job? It does make me happy and I’m good but that sounds awful. People are going through their worst time. This process is up to them, I'm very careful with peoples feelings, this isn't standard hairdressing, it's totally different but I love helping. I love doing it.”

Tickets for the event which is set to be held at Bergman and Brown, Romsey, are £5. There will be pink Prosecco and pink lemonade available along with food and lots of opportunities to dress up and try out new styles. A representative from Jane Scarth house will be there as well as a qualified clinical psychologist to offer extra support on the evening.
