A NATIONAL invasive weed specialist company based in Romsey has been recognised for its work with an industry award.

Japanese Knotweed Ltd has been named a Contractor of the Year by national trade body, the Property Care Association.

The company was announced the winner of the Invasive Weed category for larger businesses.

Established in 2010, Japanese Knotweed Ltd employs more than 50 members of staff and operates across the UK, with branch offices in London, Manchester, and Southampton.

Last year, the firm carried out more than 150 excavations and 8,000 herbicide visits for more than 6,000 customers including construction professionals, developers, facilities managers, housing associations and private property owners.

"We hold several industry accreditations and employ skilled and qualified staff who support our commitment to providing the highest level of customer service standards and industry expertise.

"As well as providing surveys, treatment, and removal services for Japanese knotweed, we also control all other invasive non-native weeds such as giant hogweed and Himalayan balsam, alongside native invasive species such as horsetail."

Every autumn the PCA presents 'Contractor of the Year' awards to members based on their annual audit.
