PUBLIC notice to reduce the speed limit near the Hoe Lane development site has been given.

Hampshire County Council has given notice of a traffic order proposal for the reduction in the speed limit at the eastern end of Hoe Lane, North Baddesley.

The current speed limit is set at the national limit of 60 miles per hour, however, the council are proposing to bring this down to 30 mph to create a safer road during construction.

The notice which can be seen online states the Ashfield developers are building 300 residential units in the Mountbatten Park area, north of Hoe Lane which will utilise three access sites and by reducing the speed, it will allow for ‘greater visibility and improve the overall safety of the road’.

The notice also states that a traffic survey conducted in 2016 shows the average speed limit from the eastern side of Hoe Lane to already be around 33 mph.

A copy of the notice and map showing the location and effect of the proposal can be seen by visiting www.hants.gov.uk/community/publicnotices/?typeid=5 or during office hours at the Romsey Library on Station Road, Romsey.

All comments from members of the public about the proposal must be received by the council by December 10 and can either be posted to The Castle, Winchester, SO23 8UD or can be emailed to public.notices@hants.gov.uk quoting reference C836/MJB.
