THE team at BJB Motor Company in Chandler’s Ford have donated £2000 in toys to Southampton charity SCRATCH (Southampton City and Region Action to Combat Hardship) at the end of its Christmas campaign.

Members of the sales team at the local car dealership cycled 20 miles across Southampton on Sunday December 12 dressed as iconic pop stars David Bowie, Britney Spears and Geri Halliwell.

Over the last two weeks the car sales company shared daily videos across social media to encourage people to spread the word about the 10 day Christmas campaign to increase the company’s initial donation of £1000 worth of toys.

The team set out to get 35 shares from their followers on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter every day throughout the campaign and if so, they would increase the miles of the ride from 10 to 20 (1 mile per day) and double the donation to the charity from £1000 to £2000 (£100 per day). The team are pleased to say they met all their targets.

Sales Director, Billy Boynton said: “Thanks to your support we were able to reach our target and I have had the privilege of delivering all the toys to SCRATCH. This is a fantastic local charity which supports individuals and families experiencing hardship and difficulties. Knowing that what we have done will make a difference to their Christmas and hopefully bring some good cheer makes it all worthwhile.

“The bike ride was an interesting experience, particularly for Sales Executive Chris and me as we are not riders and even had to borrow bikes. A big thank you to Botley MTB for lending these to us! Our costumes certainly brought a lot of attention, which helped drive us over the finishing line as well as knowing we were doing it for a great cause.”
