TWO local charities will benefit from fundraising at Braishfield Bees Football Club this year.

Braishfield Bees FC held their 6th annual tournament on September 4 where it was announced they had raised £258 for charities.

The club had pledged to donate 5% of proceeds raised from team entry fees to local health related charities, they raised £258.

The Club Committee unanimously agreed to match fund the monies, up to a cap of £500 to enable them to provide meaningful financial support to charity by way of a donation.

As a result, Jane Scarth House (in association with the Jenna Marie Foundation) and Mountbatten Hampshire (Former Countess Mountbatten House) benefited from £250 each.

Club Chairman Ian Bates said: “It is wonderful that we find ourselves in the enviable position whereby we can help such fantastic charities that do so much in the local area and a Community Club we wanted to give something back to the Community on the back of another successful event. Next year we hope to raise even more money for local good causes from what will be a two-day event held over the weekend of September 3 and 4, 2022.”

Rachel Tucker, Jane Scarth House centre manager said: “We are so grateful to Braishfield Bees FC for donating monies raised from their annual tournament to Jane Scarth House in Romsey.

“It is so important in these challenging times that we support each other as a community and this donation will make a big impact to us – thank you Braishfield Bees FC."

Liz Arnold, director of nursing also said: "We are really grateful to Braishfield Bees FC for their donation to Mountbatten Hampshire. Our services are free to everyone but without the support from our local communities, we simply could not help the growing number of people who need us across Southampton and West Hampshire.

“A donation of £250 pays for a Mountbatten nurse to be with a dying person at home during the night, ensuring they are not alone. The donation really makes a difference, so thank you to the players and the club for thinking of Mountbatten.”

The Club have already agreed to continue to give 5% of the tournament entry fees to local charities and with next year’s event hopefully seeing double the number of teams attending, will enable the club to support more good causes.
