An amended plan for eight new houses in Romsey has had an objection from town councillors.

The application, from Stuart Wilson, is for the new houses and an access road behind 109A Winchester Road.

Romsey Town Council's Planning Committee had previously objected to this, and maintained it for this despite improvements from the original plan.

The application received 20 letters of objection.

Planning committee chair, Cllr John Parker, said: “We objected to this at our last meeting. The amended application has taken the roof line down and taken the accommodation in the roof space out, so their aren't any windows in the roof.”

A letter on Test Valley Borough Council's website, from Andrew Mercer of 121 Winchester Road, said: “An extra window has also been added to the first floor of plot one, overlooking Winchester Road properties reducing privacy.

“If only the developers had some way to communicate with the local residents.”

Cllr Mark Cooper said: “This is a much improved application, but it is still significantly intrusive on immediate neighbours.”

The committee agreed to remain with their previous objection.
