A man has been fined more than £400 after he was caught fly tipping plastic packaging and broken glass in a Hampshire village by hidden cameras.

On November 5, 2021, Barry Jones, of Millway Road, Andover was recorded illegally depositing controlled waste including plastic packaging and broken glass at Marrow Puts near Newbury Hill, Charlton.

Appearing at Basingstoke Magistrates' Court on April 12, he admitted to the offence and was fined £440.

He must also pay costs of £150.

Reacting to the sentence, Test Valley Borough Councillor Nick Adams-King said: "I'm delighted to tell you about another successful prosecution for TVBC's brilliant environmental enforcement team, caught once more by using our covert cameras in a fly-tipping hot spot.

"While we obviously don’t disclose their locations, they are always on the move, so the risk of being caught on camera simply isn’t worth it.

"My thanks once more go to the hard work of our environmental service team and legal service who work side by side in bringing these prosecutions forward.

"I’d also like to thank everyone who continues to report fly-tipping via the various means – we always act and seek to prosecute whenever enough evidence can be found. The My Council Services app, online, email or by phone can all be used to report this disgusting behaviour."
