A BUS operator has appointed a new member of its leadership team in the Hampshire area.

James O’Neill is the new commercial director for Stagecoach South.

He joins from sister company Stagecoach West, where he oversaw a period of significant network growth from 2015. But James is no stranger to the area as he began his Stagecoach career in the South back in 2007as commercial assistant .

In his new role, James will oversee the strategic management and planning of local bus networks, fares, and marketing, continuing the evolution of customer focused, cost effective and reliable bus networks across Hampshire, Surrey and West Sussex. He will also play a significant part in stakeholder liaison.

He said: “I’ve spent much of my career with Stagecoach and it’s great to be back in the South.

“I’m looking forward to the challenge and am keen to build on the great work the South team have been doing as we position our bus networks for future growth.

"Having the right networks in place to meet customer expectations will be vital in the months ahead. We’ll work closely with our local authorities and key stakeholders to develop opportunities through the Government’s National Bus Strategy and local Bus Service Improvement Plans."
