Covid cases in the Test Valley have fallen below 200.

Five of the six areas around Romsey have seen cases decrease, with no change in one.

In the seven days to May 4, there were 172 Covid cases in the Test Valley at a rate of 135.3 per 100,000 people.

This is compared to 367 in the seven days to April 27 at a rate of 288.6.

In the seven days to April 28, the area near Romsey with the highest Covid case rate was North Baddesley and Braishfield with 28 cases, no change, with 260.8 per 100,000 people.

Second was Romsey Town with 14 cases, down four (22.2 per cent), 239.3.

Third was Romsey, Cupernham and Halterworth with 12 cases, down 22 (64.7 per cent), 139.4.

Fourth was Chilworth, Nursling and Rownhams with nine cases, down 11 (55 per cent), 133.7.

Fifth was Nether Wallop, King’s Somborne and Dunbridge with eight cases, down 27 (77.1 per cent), 103.8.

Sixth was Abbotswood and West Wellow with seven cases, down nine (56.2 per cent), 79.1.

The dashboard shows 244 people had died in the area by April 28 – up from 243 on the previous day.

They were among 22,545 deaths recorded across the South East.

Hampshire Hospitals Trust was caring for 151 Covid patients in hospital as of April 26, figures show.

NHS England data shows the number of people being treated in hospital for Covid by 8am on April 26 was down from 176 on the same day the previous week.

The number of beds at Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust occupied by people who tested positive for Covid decreased by 11 per cent in the last four weeks – 28 days before, there were 170.

Across England there were 11,320 people in hospital with Covid as of April 26, with 276 of them in mechanical ventilation beds.

The number of Covid patients hospitalised nationally has decreased by 27 per cent in the last four weeks, while the number on mechanical ventilators has decreased by 15 per cent.

The figures also show that 61 new Covid patients were admitted to hospital in Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in the week to April 24. This was down from 74 in the previous seven days.
