FIREFIGHTERS tackled a fire involving a large pile of tyres at a farm near Romsey that sent a plume of acrid smoke into the air.
Crews from Romsey, Redbridge, Eastleigh and Andover used main jets and hose reels to put the fire out following the call just after midnight today.
The Environment Agency was informed and the stop message was received at 2.25am.
Two Romsey appliances and engines from Eastleigh, Redbridge and Andover attended the incident, initially described in a fire service tweet as a "large Agricultural fire" at Sandy Lane, Abbotswood.
In a tweet the fire service said: "Swift actions by the crews got the fire under control".
