After a Covid-induced break of two years, the ever-popular Barratt Homes Romsey Relay Marathon made a successful return on May 1 at the Broadlands estate.
In the event, organised by the Rotary Club of Romsey, teams of up to 10 collectively complete a marathon, with each team runner completing two laps of the Broadlands track before handing a baton over to their teammate. Experienced runners compete against the clock alongside casual runners for whom completing one lap of the track is often a major achievement.

On Sunday May 1, more than 1,000 runners took part in 100 teams with many more family and friends as spectators.
A live band and children’s entertainment added to the excitement making this a great family event.
The overall race was won by Romsey Road Runners Team four in a time of 2:29:00 followed closely by Winterslow Whippets 42 seconds later. The winner’s cup was presented by Lady Alexandra Knatchbull of Broadlands.
The organisers estimate that the event will have raised over £100,000 for local charities and are grateful to Barratt Homes as the main sponsor, Broadlands for providing the venue and many other local businesses and organisations who supported the event by sponsorship or providing services.
