Romsey residents are preparing to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee this weekend with a wide range of events planned.

In the town centre, the 100's In The Hundred street party will be on June 2, from 2pm-8pm, and run by the Romsey Carnival.

John Ray, chairman of the event, said: "The idea is that people will bring their own tables, chairs and picnics and we will be hosting the event with music, dancing, stalls and children's entertainers.

"We have been given permission to have the use of the new Piazza for the weekend and have applied for the road closure on the Thursday all through the Hundred from The Market Place."

They are also having a Royal Run which is a mini fun run through the town during the day.

Hampshire Chronicle: Romsey Town Hall

Over the weekend, Romsey Town Hall are holding an exhibition, showing the town's royal connections across the centuries. This will be open from June 2-5, 10am-4pm.

Sir Harold Hillier Gardens are holding special entertainment and culture, events, trails and activities. On the November 21 2003 The Queen planted a special tree in the Winter Gardens, which coincided with the 50th anniversary of the official opening of the gardens.

Dogstival, at Broadlands, will take place on June 4 and 5. The dog festival will have plenty of attractions including live music, street performers and comedy.

The Fire Brigade Museum, near Romsey, is holding a collection of photographs of the Queen inspecting firefighters throughout her reign until June 5.

A concert is taking place at Abbey United Reformed Church, on June 3, featuring the best of British. The concert, with Nick Duncombe and Kirsty Purves, will have classics to modern favourites.

Hampshire Chronicle: Dogstival is going ahead for 2021 in Burley

A service of thanksgiving at Romsey Abbey will take place on June 4, at 3pm, followed by a reception in Church Rooms.

A street party will be in Church Lane, Romsey, on June 5, starting at 1pm.

Romsey Conservative Club will be holding two open days on June 3 and 4 where they will be presenting a historic reflection of the club over the last 130 years for the public to enjoy.

Abbotswood Community Association are holding a jubilee fun day on June 4 from 12pm to 4pm at the Abbotswood Community Centre. This is a free event for the community. There will be live music, a bouncy castle, craft tables, face painting, pizza from Firehut, circus skills, a magician, tea, coffee and cake.

Mottisfont are having jubilee celebrations with special events planned until June 5. Pick up a trail map at visitor reception and explore the grounds, taking part in jubilee-themed activities along the way.
