Communities around Romsey have been celebrating the Queen's Platinum Jubilee in a variety of ways.

The Knit and Natter group have been working hard to create some wonderful window displays in St Leonard's Church, Sherfield English, including the Queen in her coach surrounded by yeomen, and crowds outside Buckingham Palace.

There is an interactive display and the church has been decorated in red, white and blue bunting and pompoms.

The decorations can be viewed on Saturday morning between 10.30am and 12noon at a coffee morning, or at a special service on Sunday from 11am.

The morning started with the children creating portraits of the Queen through the decades and making decorations in preparation for the afternoon garden party and games on the field.

Assistant headteacher Lorraine Pattinson said: “The afternoon culminated in a very special ceremony, planting a beautiful ‘flamingo tree’ in celebration of The Queen’s Green Canopy campaign.

“All the children had a fantastic day and hopefully one to remember for a very long time.”

A photo display has been on show at Abbey United Reformed Church.

Sarah Beaman, PR for the church, said: “This is a one-off event for the Platinum Jubilee this year, Romsey has been visited regularly by members of the Royal family, mainly due to the close relationship with Broadlands and Lord Mountbatten's family.”
