ROMSEY town centre today celebrated the Queen's Platinum Jubilee in style with a bumper street party.

The 100s in The Hundred, organised by Romsey Town Carnival, saw people gather in the town centre to enjoy food, music and entertainment on June 2.

The sun was shining and everyone was wearing their best jubilee outfits and there were plenty of impressive picnics.

A band of drummers dressed as pirates entertained the crowds, followed by Romsey old cadets, Swan Samba band and DJ Linda.

There was also face painting, lantern making, ice cream, hot dogs, sweet cart, and George's Trust strawberries and cream.

A competition was held for the best table display and everyone was desperate to win.

Jackie Campbell and her friends had an excellent table complete with dress from the 1970s.

Jackie said: “We have been planning this for about a month. We really want to win. Go big or go home!”

People were dancing to the music played over a loud speaker to creative a carnival atmosphere.

Chair of Romsey Carnival, John Ray, was very pleased with how the event was going.

He said: “It's absolutely fantastic, whenever we put an event on in Romsey, the people come out. It's a summer day, everyone's been stuck in for the last three years. We've got a band and the aim is the abnd and the DJ will play music from every decade the Queen has been on the throne. The Mayor of Romsey, Cllr Neil Gwynne will judge the best table.”
