RESIDENTS and staff at a care home in Romsey enjoyed a party to mark the jubilee.

The Mayor of Romsey, Cllr Neil Gwynne, also attended the celebration at the Marie Louise House care home on June 1.

Together, the Mayor, residents and staff and their families enjoyed lunch, tea and a toast to Her Majesty in street party style at the Romsey care home.

Delvis, an Elvis Presley performer, provided light-hearted entertainment and the residents were soon dancing along to well-known tunes.

Gillian, 89, said: “We’ve had a lovely time celebrating Her Majesty’s reign. Tea, cake, games, music and dancing – what more can you ask for? I remember Queen Elizabeth’s coronation well, and have enjoyed many street parties since.”

The Mayor planted a Platinum Jubilee tree in the meadow within the care home’s beautiful grounds, to remember the occasion.

Sue Arquier, care home manager said: “This afternoon has been extra-special for all the residents, staff and their families. Our residents have wonderful memories of the Queen throughout her lifetime so it’s lovely to commemorate her 70-year reign with them. We are all huge fans of Delvis too; our residents know and love him well.”
