HOLLYWOOD stars descended on to a tiny Hampshire hamlet to shoot scenes for a new film.

Superstars such as Scarlett Johansson and Sienna Miller were filming scenes for Kristen Scott Thomas's directorial debut in Ashley, a hamlet near Stockbridge, on Monday, June 6.

Actress Emily Beecham was also among the stars, as they appeared to film a wedding scene for a couple played by Kirsten Scott Thomas and James Fleet.

The scenes were filmed at St. Mary's Church, an historic Anglican church.

A resident, who is part of the Friends of Ashley Church group, said: "There certainly was filming going on over the weekend, in St Mary's Church. The roads have been closed on and off while they been filming."

Scott Thomas had spent years adapting Elizabeth Jane Howard's 1959 novel The Sea Change, but failed to get the project financed.

While the storyline of her new project is being kept firmly under wraps, Miller, Johansson and Beecham are believed to play three sisters in it.

Scarlett Johansson was recently spotted in two Winchester restaurants - Kyoto Kitchen and Turtle Bay - coinciding with this shoot.

She was also spotted last month in Portsmouth, reportedly wearing a navy uniform on the HMS Prince of Wales.

This movie is just one of many that have been filmed in Hampshire.

Earlier this week, film crews were also seen setting up at Winchester's park and ride site in Barfield Close, reportedly for the filming of a new Disney series of Never Let Me Go.
