AUDITIONS have opened for Micheldever Variety Group’s next summer production, an as yet to be announced murder mystery.

The auditions will take place at Northbrook Hall at 2pm on Sunday, March 5. Everyone is invited to attend, and refreshments will be provided.

THE next meeting of Micheldever Parish Council will take place on Wednesday, March 1 at 7.30pm at East Stratton Village Hall.

THE Dever Valley Local History Society is hosting a talk by Richard Osgood about archaeological efforts on Rat Island in Gosport.

The talk, entitled A Wicked Noah’s Ark, will be held at East Stratton Village Hall on Church Bank Road at 8pm on Tuesday, February 28. Tickets are £4.

The talk will explore one of the first urban myths on the MoD estate which proved to be true, after storms in 2015 exposed a series of human burials on a small island close to Portsmouth Naval Base.

THERE is a temporary road closure near Micheldever for motorists to be aware of.

Part of Weston Colley Way will be closed between its junction with Colley Yard and a point 80 metres north.

The road is closed from February 9 for a period of six months, or until works on the road are completed.

Reasonable facilities will be provided to allow access to adjacent premises while the work is being carried out.

SOUTH Wonston Parish Council is hosting a warm hub café every Monday from 12.30pm to 2.30pm, with a free hot drink and soup available.

The community café based at South Wonston Sports and Recreational Pavilion launched at the end of November.

THE Church Pantry Food Bank is open in Sutton Scotney in the shed next to the Coach and Horses pub.

It is open three times a week – Mondays 5pm to 7pm, Wednesdays 2pm to 4pm and Fridays 9am to 11am.

The food bank offers non-perishable food, hygiene and household products at no cost for those who need help in providing for themselves or their family.

The initiative is run by Wonston Church by permission of the pub’s landlord David and is stocked through donations by local residents.

MICHELDEVER Village Lunch is returning on Wednesday, March 1. Taking place at 12.30pm in Northbrook Hall, the lunch is a sociable occasion for new and old friends to get together.

The cost is £4.50 for a freshly prepared two-course lunch, a glass of either sherry or wine and coffee.

Transport can be provided for those without their own vehicles or for the less mobile attendees.
