ROMSEY and Waterside Lions Club whas thanked the public for their support over the past year.

Over the past 12 months, the club reported that it completed 12 bookstalls, selling 4,500 books, four street collections, two village fetes and attended the Mayor’s picnic. This fundraising has allowed the group to support multiple good causes.

Twenty-three donations have been made to local charities and groups, with 210 tickets to Paulton’s Park given to children and their carers, 5,000 used spectacles donated and 700 Message in a Bottle delivered. The group also supported three local food banks.

Over the past year the small group of nine has managed to raise £17,000 through the dedication of its members and supporters.

The club is currently looking for new members to help continue its work.

It is holding a meet-and-greet event at The Exchange Bar in Romsey on Tuesday, April 18 from 6pm to 7pm, with local people invited along for an informal chat about the group.

Alternatively, those interested in joining can introduce themselves during the Lions' monthly bookstall. The next stall is on April 15 from 9am to 2pm at Market Place, Romsey.
