Team GB star Adam Peaty is coming to Winchester to coach the next generation of talented swimmers.

The three-time Olympic gold medallist and eight-time world champion is bringing AP Race Clinics to Winchester Sport and Leisure Park on Friday August 11.

Founded in 2019, AP Race Clinics aims to inspire swimmers, parents and coaches.

Adam, the world record holder in the 50m and 100m breaststroke, will be joined by his support team at the centre, which is run by leading operator Everyone Active in partnership with Winchester City Council.

Supporting the 16-time European champion is Ed Baxter, a gold medallist at the 2015 Youth Commonwealth Games and a multiple British champion, as well as additional coaches and a psychologist.

Four stations will be set up across the day, three for swimmers and one for parents, as well as gym and racing edge stations, where they will receive expert advice from a strength and conditioning coach and a psychologist.

In addition, there is a parent support station where insights will be shared from the team’s combined experiences, while anything swimming-related can be explored and discussed.

AP Race Clinics is also offering local club coaches the chance to attend for free and receive mentoring from one of the leading senior coaches in the country.

To round off the day, Adam will give a presentation on his career, the lessons he has learned and how he has managed to sustain his sky-high levels of success.

Alison Lewis, Everyone Active’s area contract manager, said: “We are hugely excited to welcome Adam and his team to Winchester Sport and Leisure Park. This is a fantastic opportunity for promising swimmers from the local community to receive the best possible training and advice.

“Adam’s incredible achievements in swimming speak for themselves and for swimmers, parents and coaches to learn from him in our state-of-the-art facility is too good an opportunity to miss.”
