A HAMPSHIRE man must pay more than £4,000 after he was caught drink driving.
Paul Curwen, of Woodgreen Road, Harestock, was stopped in a Volkswagen Golf on Friday, December 29 in Priors Dean Road, a court heard.
Curwen, 50, had 40 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.
He pleaded guilty at Basingstoke Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, February 20.
Curwen was banned from driving for 12 months, which can be reduced by three months if a course is completed by September 19.
He must pay a fine of £2,841, a victim surcharge of £1,136 and costs of £85. This must be paid by March 19.
The court heard the fine was unusually high because of Curwen's monthly income of £7,000.
