Winchester College has been ranked in the top 30 private schools in the UK by Carfax Education Index.

The private school has 714 pupils with alumni ranging from colonial administrators of 19th century British occupied India, cricketers and current prime minister Rishi Sunak.

It is a boarding school for boys years aged nine to 13 and girls as day pupils for the sixth form. The fees for 2024/25 are £51,550 per annum for boarders and £38,367 for day pupils.

The school has 18 Grade 1, six Grade 11* and more than 70 Grade II listed buildings across its site. It own 250 acres including 52 acres of playing fields.

Carfax Education Index described the school as: “Academically rigorous, the Winchester style of teaching is to ‘guide rather than govern’ and their unique interdisciplinary “Div’ programme has given generations of Wykehamists (former pupils) the ability to explore ideas and make connections beyond the examined curriculum.
