THERE’S more good employment news for Chandler’s Ford with the opening of a second office by insurance giant, Fortis.

The Tollgate-based business already has a workforce of more than 1,000 and it has now secured office space in Turnpike House, directly opposite.

Fortis is recruiting an additional 100 employees to keep pace with its growing business and the new offices in Turnpike House will accommodate customer sales and service staff for long-term insurance partner, Age UK, the new organisation combining Age Concern and Help the Aged.

Fortis UK chief executive, Barry Smith, and MD, Mark Cliff, together with Age UK bosses, Tom Wright and Gordon Morris, cut the ribbon and unveiled a plaque to mark the occasion while employees enjoyed a slice of a novelty cake baked in the shape of the building.

“The additional office in Chandler’s Ford will provide a fantastic home for our employees and supports our plans to continue to grow in the UK,” said Mr Smith.

“The quality of the workforce in the Eastleigh area is very high and we are delighted to be increasing our commitment as a major employer.”
