MOST prices are spiralling at the moment but not admission fees into this summer’s Netley Marsh Steam and Craft Show.

Announcing the date of the popular three-day show, the secretary, Tony Greenham, confirmed entry fees would be frozen at 2011 prices.

Mr Greenham said: “With the success of the last few years, the committee is now confidently making preparations for the next show on July 20, 21 and 22. With prudent management, the showground entry price will remain the same as they have from 2003, with adult tickets £8 and concessions £6.”

He pointed out that show relied entirely on volunteers to organise the event, with all profits goibg to Netley Marsh Steam Engine Rally charitable trust, which distributes the cash to charities in the area.

Profits from last year and the 2010 show had been ploughed back into improving facilities at at St Matthew’s Church Hall in the village.

Mr Greenham said this year’s show would be centred on historic steam traction engines and a wide range of steam-driven agricultural machinery demonstrations.

He said heavy horses would be on parade on the second and final day of the show.

“Some 100 craft and a food hall will be offering a wide-range of hand-crafted goods, paintings, needlework, jewellery, toys, ornaments and food stuffs,”

“The trade area has the promise of a larger number of stalls this year and a wider-range of goods on offer.”

Since it began 42 years ago Netley Marsh Steam and Craft Show has raised around £350,000 for community projects in the area.
