HUNDREDS of pounds have been awarded to a new health and safety company in Andover through a council grant scheme.

The Test Valley Borough Council Business Incentive Grant, which rewards applicants' new businesses after they have been up and running for six months, has given Saxon Safety Ltd £750.

The company, which was set up in March, helps construction and manufacturing businesses manage their health and safety responsibilities.

Carl Sievewright set up his company having worked in the town for the last 10 years, and is now a Chartered member of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health.

Harroway ward councillor, Carl Borg-Neal said: "Carl has worked incredibly hard to get his new business off the ground and through his personal contacts in the town is becoming more and more well-regarded.

"I sincerely hope that this grant helps him to boost his business further."

Carl Sievewright added: "This type of grant is a fantastic boost to those like me trying to make sure a new business venture is successful.

"A huge thanks to Test Valley Borough Council for all their support in getting Saxon Safety off the ground."

The council's business incentive grants are available to anyone looking to set up their own business in Test Valley.

Anyone who successfully applies for the grant will receive £750 if their business is still going strong six months later.
