A TRIO of suspected bungling burglars have been arrested after police discovered stolen tools for sale online in their names.
Officers found the tools for sale after reports of a spate of burglaries from a construction site at Lockbridge Park, Picket Piece between September 22 and October 11.
A number of items had been taken from containers on the site.
A 45-year-old man and a 33-year-old man, both from Andover, have been arrested on suspicion of burglary other than dwelling with intent to steal and handling stolen goods.
A 25-year-old man, also from Andover, has been arrested on suspicion of burglary other than dwelling with intent to steal.
All three have been released from custody but remain under investigation.
A tweet by Andover police yesterday said: “Today three Andover residents are currently in custody for non-dwelling burglary after we found some suspected stolen goods for sale online in their names! We may be stretched but we’re not daft. Yes, police can see online selling sites.”
