A BOUTIQUE pop-up shop and gallery has opened for the festive period this month.

Kitchen designer Rebecca Speculo came up with a creative way to bring local artisans together under one roof at her business’ HQ in Weyhill.

Based in Weyhill Road, the pop-up is stocking Christmas gifts galore including Pink Avocet cashmere clothing, Kelly Jenkins’ contemporary gold embroidered abstract paintings, silver and semi-precious jewellery from Liz Hodgson and Pearlescent by Design.

Seasonal drinks are also from offer from Chalkdown Cider and Test Valley Gin.

The store welcomed shoppers to its launch on December 7, and it will remain open until December 22.

Rebecca, of Rebecca Speculo Kitchen Design, said: “My background is in art and design and I used to do craft fairs myself so I always had a passion for handmade artisan bits.

“It was an idea when I was a university student bringing creative people together to promote their work and give them a voice.”

The business owner is hoping this will be just the start of using the ground floor shop space for themed events and pop-ups, and will be seeing what works best from the seasonal opening to make the building a “creative hub.”

The 40-year-old added: “The weekend has been very busy and even on the weekdays people still see it from going past and come in.

“It’s been bustling and vibrant and we’ve made some good sales.

“The shop has been empty for a while, a lot of people have said it’s nice to see the space being used.

“There’s been a lot of local support I have been overwhelmed how many people have been supportive.”

The pop-up also has late night shopping on Thursdays, with the next on December 20 until 8.30pm.
