ANDOVER’s new leisure centre has taken another great stride ahead of its grand opening next month.

Last month it was announced that the new Andover Leisure Centre would open to the public on Monday, April 1.

Now state-of-the-art exercise equipment has begun to arrive ahead of the big day, including apparatus for the new sports hall.

The new leisure will feature swimming pools, sports halls, squash courts and a gym and will replace the former centre situated next door.

Leader of Test Valley Borough Council, Councillor Phil North, said: “It’s very exciting seeing the first of the brand new equipment arrive and I’m very grateful for all of the hard work that has gone into this facility.

“It was not easy ensuring we could deliver this right in the centre of the town, but in doing so on time we are taking the next step together for Andover.

“Alongside the new leisure centre we have also been able to deliver a brand new Changing Places facility and we’re all looking forward to the development of the Town Mills Riverside Park project as our regeneration plans push on.”
