RESIDENTS living in an Andover housing estate have been left looking at scaffolding.

Work is being carried out on a number of houses at The Chariots development, in Augusta Park, to rectify an error made during their build as gable restraint straps were not fitted.

One resident, who did not wish to be named, said some houses have been re-roofed as they were not completed properly.

They added: “The scaffolding and tarpaulin type covers are an eyesore and the work involved is causing delays and disruption on the roads.”

A Taylor Wimpey spokesperson said: “Following an internal review, we found that some homes at The Chariots development, in Andover, were not fitted with gable restraint straps. All affected customers have been informed and our team of approved contractors are installing the restraint straps over the coming months.

“We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience and remain in ongoing communications with residents to ensure that the necessary works are completed with minimal disruption.”
