TWO friends have begun an epic walk to the capital of another country in the aid of good causes.

Ian Tilbury and Garry Gordon, both from Overton, left the village from the White Hart on Saturday, with a goal of walking the more than 220 miles to Paris, to raise money for charities close to their hearts.

Ian is fundraising for North Waltham-based Sebastian’s Action Trust, and Garry is raising money for Sepsis UK.

The pair hoped to complete the epic journey by the end of this week.

They will be taking a tent and their own supplies, camping where they can and sorting out food along the way.

Inspired by a previous challenge that Garry had undertaken, they decided off-the-cuff that it would be a good idea to do before they started some training.

Speaking before the challenge, Ian said: “We wanted to do something really different and was a big challenge for the pair of us, to highlight the charities that we are fundraising for.”
