ANIMAL lovers will have the chance to get involved with a charity appeal kicking off at an Andover pet shop this month.

Pets at Home Andover will be raising money for Hampshire Greyhound Rescue this summer, with their fundraising efforts beginning as early as tomorrow (Friday).

A range of activities will be taking place at the store from May 17 to June 13, offering customers and pet lovers in the local area the opportunity to interact with the rescue centre team.

People will be able to donate directly in the store.

Giving 50p will fund breakfast for a rescue pet, £1 will fund meals throughout the day, £5 will provide food for a week and £15 will fund the entire month of food for a rescue pet.

The appeal has been organised by Support Adoption For Pets, whose new Charity of the Year initiative sees rescue centres build relationships with Pets at Home stores to generate vital funds.

Amy Wilson, Fundraising Manager for Support Adoption For Pets, said: “The summer fundraising appeal is a great opportunity for people to support their local rescue to give pets looking for a home the vital care they deserve.

“Even the smallest of donations can make a huge difference to a pet rescue centre."

Support Adoption For Pets have set Pets at Home an ambitious challenge to raise £500,000.

As well as giving money in store, donations can be made through the Support Adoption For Pets website, supportadoptionforpets.co.uk/support-us/donate.
